About Course
The Quantitative English class is entirely taught in English. It has two primary goals. First, to prepare students for a business world where English is ubiquitously used. And second, to prepare students for their Internship Project report. This means helping students improve their ability to articulate a thought in writing and orally.
Gaining the ability to articulate a thought is done through the study of documents. Those are texts as well as audio documents. Documents are taken from the international press and also from universities or international organizations.
A review of grammar points will also be proposed to students in need of a refresher.
Helping students prepare for the final Internship Project report will take different aspects. One will be short writing exercises, where the students are asked to write short memos, which they will have to improve and correct. Another exercise will be to work on the design principles of PowerPoint presentations. A last exercise will be in the form of in-class exchanges. These are mainly exchanges with the teacher, who strongly encourages other students to jump in and express their own opinion about the topic.
The goal of this last oral expression exercise is to bring students to talk in English, which is not always a simple thing to achieve.
