Making a Business Phone Call
Hello could I speak to XYZ?
John, could you please take a message for XYZ, and tell him/her that I called. My name is: Frederic A. My number is: 06 12 34 57 89.
Here you want to spell-out your phone number distinctly.
The same goes for your name. If the person is friendly, spell your name out, detaching each letter distinctly. If the person is in a hurry, you need to find a phonetic way to pronounce your name. For example in the U.S., I go by AP for Anne-Pierre.
Hello Pierre. We need to talk about the information system quality center. The project requires extra care (better than “is difficult”). We are now in the process of identifying (rather than “trying to understand”) the functionalities of the tool.
Today, we learned what the user requirements are.
There is something that you might want to look closer into. That is the time frame. We might be short of time to finish according to schedule.
It seems like we will need twice the amount of time originally planned to finish the project. Finishing on time is a question of amount of manpower available. We actually underestimated the amount of time needed to accomplish the project.
The situation needs to be presented to the people in charge. Who should we talk to? The product owner is the person to talk to.
